The Good Translator

Hi everyone! My name is Vanesa, and I am the other half of The Good Translator.

I am all the more curious and eternally looking for new hobbies. Since I was little, I have been very passionate about all kinds of stories in every possible form; books, movies, shows, videogames… give me a new story and I will have a new obsession to feed my creativity.

I have always known that I wanted to dedicate my professional career to languages. One of my life dreams was to translate a book, which was crucial at the time to choosing what I wanted to do at university and led me to study Translation and Interpreting in Madrid, the city I fell in love with at first sight and eventually ended up living in.

I love to philosophize and have intense conversations about The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. This pattern made me more interested in psychology and social issues. I’m constantly willing to hear different points of view, learn and reinvent myself. These are the main reasons why I’ve participated in several volunteer opportunities, including an internship at Unicef translating some of their posts about humanitarian aid, and subtitling some TEDxTalks videos. That is also one of the reasons why I ended up working in sales and attention to clients, an area in which I keep working these days and in which I now have several years of experience.

To satisfy my interest in technological sciences, I decided to direct my major toward Audiovisual Translation and Localization. And to complement that, I decided to learn some computer science on my own, which helped me lay the groundwork to build this web from scratch.

I like fashion, makeup, the 90’s, coffee with cake, warm weather, diagrams, and cats.

“Vanesa is a great translator and an even better partner, because she knows how to create a sense of calm and always encourages communication. She is a very focused person with clear ideas, but also flexible and open to change. What I admire most about her is that she can be firm and serious without ever losing her good and gentle demeanor”.
