Hello! I am Ana, one of the halves of The Good Translator.

Since I was little, I have had a great desire to convey my ideas to the world. I have always had a great array of interests and, throughout my life, I have expressed myself through different arts, like drawing, photography or acting, but it has been through writing —both in Spanish and in English— that I have found my own voice. Writing is one of my biggest passions and a very important part of who I am. I like to write short stories, articles, poems, songs and, in sudden moments of inspiration, spare phrases with no identity, which are often forgotten in the Notes app of my phone.

This fascination for the written word —along with my love for foreign languages— was what guided my decision to study Translation and Interpreting at university. I made general and audiovisual translation my specialization, from English and French into Spanish.

At the end of my BA, I had the great opportunity to intern at Fundéu, a renowned institution that works to uphold a good usage of the Spanish language, and where I had the chance to work closely with journalists, linguists and translators. During my time there, I was entrusted with writing several linguistic reports, as well as two articles for the Foundation’s blog, one of which made its way into the book 1001 Curiosities, Words, and Expressions of the Spanish Language.

Cooking —especially baking— is another big passion of mine, to the point where it has become a sort of defining trait. If there is a celebration of any kind, I usually bring the dessert. In fact, before I went onto studying Translation, I considered pursuing cooking and, from the ages of fifteen to seventeen, I had a cooking blog where I shared my best recipes and wrote about my adventures as an amateur cook.

When I am not translating, writing or trying something new in the kitchen, I am usually messing with my cat, singing, reading, watching new movies or TV series, making Spotify playlists, or having tea and cake with friends at some cute café in Madrid.

“Ana is the coworker we all dream of. Not only she is a hard worker, fierce and perfectionist, but she also has an inherent creativity with which she manages to inspire her peers and fill with magic every project. She is, above all, an extraordinary person who fights for her ideals and whom you can always count with”.
